Getting A Dental Bridge For A Missing Tooth

Hi, my name is Robin Pearson and when I had to have a tooth pulled, I was just devastated. I didn't want to have a gap in my mouth so I asked my dentist what he could do. My dentist said there were a couple of options regarding replacing a tooth that's missing. The option that interested me was a dental bridge. I went home and read all I could about dental bridges so I would completely understand how they work to fill in the missing space in my mouth. Since I am very pleased with my dental bridge, I wanted to share this information with other people who are also considering this option for a missing tooth.

3 Suggestions For Keeping Your Teeth Healthy While Wearing Braces

Many people choose to get braces to correct crooked teeth or an overbite. This is a great way to get the smile that you want, and in many cases, braces are the most affordable option. If you have braces, either as a teenager or an adult, it is important that you know how to properly care for them. Here are some things that you need to know about caring for your braces.

1. Brush Immediately After Eating

Your dentist has probably told you that you need to brush your teeth after every meal. This is not something that they are saying to make money off you or scare you. It is actually something that you should do to protect yourself. If you are not careful you can easily discolor your teeth. You do not want your teeth to become a different color on the area without the braces. This will cause there to be a visible sign where the braces once were. This is not a problem with the braces; instead it is a problem with how you cared for your teeth while you wore them.

By brushing your teeth after each meal, you prevent staining. This is essential to getting a beautiful and healthy smile.

2. Don't Eat Sticky or Gooey Candy

While wearing braces, you might need to refrain from eating certain candies. Although candy is generally bad for your teeth, there are specific candies that are far worse than others. Candies like taffy and caramel are some of the worst when you are wearing braces. As you chew these candies, they will become like a web over your teeth and braces. In addition, they are very sticky, so even if you do brush, there is a chance that some of them will still get stuck in the braces. This could either cause the brace to break, or just stay on your teeth for too long causing decay and discoloration.

3. Don't Miss Your Ortho Appointment

Many people worry about the amount of time that they will need to keep their braces on. If you want to speed up the process, you should see your orthodontist often. This is because each time they tighten the braces, you are one step closer to getting the perfect smile. Going months between appointments is not only bad for your teeth, but will prolong the process.

These are just a couple things you need to know to keep your braces in good shape and your teeth healthy.
